Puhoi to Warkworth Motorway Project
Tonkin + Taylor is helping deliver the Puhoi to Warkworth Motorway Project for the Public Private Partnership project team, the Northern Express Group. The Group includes the ACC, Public Infrastructure Partners II LP, Acciona Concesiones S.L. and Fletcher Building Ltd.
The $709.5 million project is part of a NZ Road of Significance and comprises 18.5 km of motorway between Puhoi and Warkworth. The transport link will connect Northland to the Upper North Island freight triangle of Auckland, Waikato and Tauranga. The NZ Transport Agency’s aim is to enable growth through provision of a safer and more reliable transport link for the region. Project costs include ‘whole of life’ financing, encompassing the design, construction, management and maintenance of the motorway over a 25 year period. Design and construction is expected to take around six years.
The project is T+T’s latest collaboration on large transport infrastructure. Tonkin + Taylor’s Transport Business Leader, Chris Perks describes the opportunity, “We’re looking forward to supporting the Northern Express team in our design role. This a great opportunity to bring our own mix of collaborative and technical expertise to bear on the quality and safety of the improved connection between Auckland and Northland.”
