Andrea Brabant is a highly experienced Principal Planner whose specialist understanding of resource management processes and the legislative requirements of the Resource Management Act make her highly sought after. She has more than 16 years’ planning experience in consultancy and private practice and is a full member of the NZPI and a certified Resource Management Act (RMA) Hearings Commissioner. Andrea has extensive experience in planning in the Auckland Region, both in processing applications on behalf of Council for a variety of projects - including residential and commercial developments, large scale apartment and office developments in the CBD - and obtaining consents for private clients.
Andrea is often called upon as an expert planning witness at Council hearings, Boards of Inquiry and the Environment Court. She has been heavily involved in the Proposed Auckland Unitary Plan process, attending multiple mediations and hearings and therefore has a thorough grasp of the new framework.
Andrea is adept in the assessment of environmental effects, project management and preparation of documentation, policy analysis and development, managing multi-disciplinary teams and pre-purchase assessments.
She was lead planner on the submission and hearing process on the Proposed Auckland Unitary Plan, on behalf of O-I NZ (ACI Operations Ltd) and Downer NZ Ltd.
Andrea has processed numerous resource consents on behalf of various Councils, including CBD apartment blocks, commercial and residential developments, telecommunications facilities, tree removals and restaurants.
She is also a trusted strategic advisor to Tegel Foods Limited and Waste Management NZ Limited, offering high level advice across a comprehensive range of projects.
