Alan is a Chartered Engineer with over 20 years’ experience. He has been responsible for transportation planning and engineering for numerous infrastructure projects for government agencies, local authorities and private clients. This includes scheme identification and economic evaluation, traffic modelling, design & project management as well as the development of business cases and funding applications.
Alan has amassed a high level of understanding of the practical application of national and regional strategy at a local level and is acknowledged locally as an expert witness.
He is fully conversant with the process for the planning, investigation and development of infrastructure schemes and has completed numerous feasibility studies and scheme assessments for roading projects, travel plans, road safety audits, roading structure plans, transportation impact assessments and roading asset management plans in NZ, the UK, and Fiji.
Alan was seconded to NZ Transport Agency during 2014 as a Senior Transport Planning Consultant responsible for the development of the Waikato Regional Game Plan and pioneering Strategic Business cases.
As a lead member of the Agency’s PBC Panel, Alan has been at the forefront of development of business cases for transportation planning and funding of future infrastructure projects. Alan is currently Programme Manager for the Hamilton to Auckland Passenger Rail Start-Up Project.
