Andrew Brown is a Senior Coastal and Maritime Engineer at Tonkin + Taylor and sub-sector lead for our Ports and Marine workstream. Chartered with the Institution of Civil Engineers (CEng) and holding a Masters in Coastal Engineering, he has 10 years’ experience as a consulting engineer, 7 years of which were with the UK civil engineering and environmental hydraulics consultancy, HR Wallingford. Andrew is an active member of the New Zealand Coastal Society, World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure (PIANC) and has a number of published papers in the field of coastal and maritime engineering.
Having started his career as a researcher, and specialising in physical model testing, he has gained a unique insight in to the performance of a range of coastal and marine structures which he uses in combination with his project management and design skills to deliver engineering solutions for our clients.
Working in the Middle East for 2.5 years as a project and business development manager he helped secure and deliver projects of varying scale and complexity including waterfront developments, port and marina upgrades, as well as marine infrastructure associated with oil and gas facilities, and power plants.
Since joining Tonkin + Taylor in 2017 he has enjoyed working closely with regional authorities to deliver shoreline management and marine infrastructure solutions for local communities.
