David is a Senior Civil and Environmental Engineer, Group Director and Business Leader (Dams) based in our Hamilton office.
David spent 28 years working on water resources, civil and environmental engineering projects in New Zealand, South East Asia, the Pacific and Africa. A specialist in dam engineering and dam safety, he is a member of the management committee for the New Zealand Society of Large Dams (NZSOLD) and is a Category A Recognised Engineer. For the last 14 years, David was responsible for investigations, detailed design and construction for many dam upgrades, replacements and new dams. He was involved with dam safety inspections and categorisation, and prepared dam safety assurance programmes. He peer reviewed numerous dam building consent applications, and led a number of feasibility studies for new dams in large irrigation and hydro projects.
David also has wide experience in water resources engineering, with specialist skills in river management and engineering, flood protection, hydrological and hydraulic analysis, hydrogeology, and construction management. His project experience includes investigations, detailed engineering design, construction supervision and project management for various civil and environmental infrastructure projects including stormwater, water supply, sewage, dams and landfills.
David holds a BE (Hons, Agricultural) and ME (Environmental Factors), as well as being a Chartered Professional Engineer in New Zealand. He is on the International Professional Engineer register and won the IPENZ Young Engineer of the Year Engineering Excellence Award in 1999.
