Kat Longstaff is an ecologist who joined T+T in 2014 and has undertaken consulting roles Australasia-wide. Her expertise is reflected across a diverse range of conservation, infrastructure, industry and development projects providing ecological services for a variety of private and public clients. She specialises in terrestrial ecology, ecological restoration and mitigation, and landscape-scale ecological management.
Kat’s technical capabilities include conducting Ecological Impact Assessments (EIA/AEE), designing and executing scientifically robust field investigations, undertaking habitat and biodiversity surveys, and fauna management.
Kat is proficient at technical report writing, evaluating native forest and wetland ecosystems, identifying threatened species and communities, designing restoration and mitigation plans, and writing and implementing ecological management plans. She has experience in salvaging, relocating and monitoring wildlife, habitat enhancement, as well as inputting and monitoring resource consent conditions.
Kat is the Ecology Social Media Ambassador for T+T and is well versed in science communication and stakeholder engagement, which are crucial to getting people to understand and appreciate complex ecological concepts. These key skills, along with her knowledge and experience, drive her to find pragmatic solutions for clients while achieving great outcomes for the environment.
