Reuben is an environmental planner and environmental scientist. Reuben is a Principal, Project Director and Client Manager of Tonkin and Taylor. He is a trusted advisor to his council, tangata whenua, energy and industry client base.
Reuben regularly provides the full ambit of services to his clients in the fields of environmental planning, environmental science and environmental management. These services include: strategic advisory; environmental risk management for regulatory and corporate purposes; options reporting; consent acquisition; policy development and review; environmental monitoring and management plans; expert evidence; and leading public engagement processes.
Reuben has significant experience in coastal planning, coastal and flood hazard risk assessment and management, and water quality issues. He has a particular interest in incorporating adaptive management and traditional cultural perspectives into mitigation measures and monitoring programmes relating to discharges to water at both point source and also catchment wide scales.
Reuben has presented papers relating to coastal hazard management at international conferences and won awards from the Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management and the New Zealand Planning Institute for his work in the management of natural hazards.
