A Design Manager and Chartered Engineer with 24 years’ experience in civil engineering. Bruce brings a relevant technical background, sound planning and programming skills and strong people leadership to the role of Design Manager. Bruce has been an integral part of building very strong and successful project teams, as a member of the AMT in the MPA Alliance, and the equivalent D&C leadership teams of the Haywards and PP2O projects. To the leadership teams Bruce brings specific interest and skills in the areas of project strategy and in stakeholder negotiations. An example of this was the identification and negotiation of quarry agreements for the Waitangi Project and obtaining signoff of from local authorities and Iwi for landscape and urban design plans (and general designs) for Haywards and the PP2O project.
Bruce has highly relevant and recent direct experience in managing large-and successful projects for the Agency.
Bruce’s leadership of the design team contributed to MPA winning numerous industry awards. Bruce’s strong technical background in ground engineering and tunnels give him particular insight into technical and design risks for MMA. A confident and effective leader, Bruce rallies a dedicated team through his commitment, proactive nature and ‘best for project’ approach.
All the design teams that Bruce has lead over the last seven years have involved multiple and different organisations. All have been highly successful with high levels of collaboration. At MPA the involvement of designers in forging strong stakeholder relationships has been noted as a significant feature in award citations. Bruce has been involved with MMA in limited roles since the ROI. This has included initial team formation and bid strategy, a member of the design challenge team and in depth challenge of the design TOC submission.
