Dominic is a Water Resources Engineer, Dam Engineer and Project Manager based in our Christchurch office.
Dominic has substantial experience in water resources projects, ranging from scoping, feasibility, consenting, construction and operation. His specific expertise is in flood hydrology, hydraulic design, and dam safety’ He’s applied these skills to a range of projects, from subdivision and site stormwater drainage and treatment design, to water supply development and modelling and irrigation distribution networks, and up to large scale storage, irrigation and hydropower projects in Australasia and internationally.
Dominic led design teams for a number of large multidisciplinary water resource projects, including assessment and upgrade works to existing dams and Greenfields hydropower development. Dominic led the civil works design on a range of large, complex projects valued up to US$20 million in the Philippines. This included Greenfields run of river hydro development of remote mountain rivers for schemes (up to 19MW-installed capacity) and including concrete gravity overflow weirs, desanders, large diameter penstocks and hard rock tunnels, powerhouses and tailraces.
Dominic also acted as a dam safety and surveillance reviewer for a number of high potential impact category/consequence category dams in New Zealand and Australia, and is thoroughly familiar with New Zealand’s regulatory requirements for dams through his ongoing role as a regulatory reviewer for Building Consent Authorities. Dominic worked on several high-profile irrigation storage projects in New Zealand, including ongoing surveillance, and the distribution design of intakes, headrace canals and piped distribution networks for scoping and feasibility level design.
Dominic is a New Zealand Chartered Professional Engineer (Civil) and Category A Recognised Engineer (Dam safety).
