Karen Baverstock is a Technical Director, Planning with over 20 years planning experience in local government and consultancy and has a strong grounding in the legislative requirement of the Resource Management Act. Karen has presented expert evidence to Council hearings and appeared as an expert planning witness before the Environment Court, and been involved in Environment Court mediation for a broad client base.
Karen specialises in delivering successful multi-disciplinary consenting projects and works regularly with district and regional councils in the consent acquisition process. She has been involved in the strategic feasibility assessment of a number of significant development proposals as well as the subsequent preparation of resource consent applications and accompanying AEEs. This includes complex projects with a high public profile and significant stakeholder and community involvement. She has also undertaken a number of environmental due diligence audits in relation to forestry estates, energy generation and transmission assets and industrial food processing sites.
Karen has a good understanding of a broad range of technical issues, with particular expertise and experience in translating complex scientific data and technical information into resource management planning in an appropriate and relevant manner. She is also experienced in community consultation processes.
