Ryan is a Senior Transportation Engineer with over 10 years’ experience in traffic engineering and transportation planning projects across both private and public sectors. He has a wide range of experience in feasibility studies and scheme assessments, road safety engineering, detailed design, consenting, consultation, project management and construction.
Ryan has led teams in the design, consultation and construction of a wide range of transport projects involving minor safety improvements, local area traffic management schemes, walking and cycling schemes through to urban and State Highway roading projects. He has held previous roles in Local Government, with project experience covering investigation scheme assessment, concept and detailed design, road safety engineering, consultation, tendering and contract supervision.
Ryan is the Cycleway Design Lead for Tonkin + Taylor’s Design team on the panel of the Wellington City Council Cycleway Network Improvements Project, and is currently leading the pedestrian, cycleway and traffic design for the NZTA Haywards Interchange Project and is part of the team delivering the design of the Auckland Transport Newmarket Laneways Project.
Through his work leading the Transportation Design teams on challenging NZTA State Highway projects such as the Memorial Park Alliance Wellington RoNS, Ryan has developed a well-deserved reputation for producing innovative, highly effective and safe design solutions. Ryan played an important role in the successful completion of the Pukeahu National War Memorial and Arras Tunnel projects, going on to similar success with completion of the Victoria Street Transformation Project for Wellington City Council. Ryan is currently the traffic design team lead on the SH2-58 Haywards Interchange project.
Through these projects Ryan has demonstrated his ability to work collaboratively within, and lead multi-discipline teams to design and construct successful projects. Ryan understands the value that good consultation and relationship management can add to successful project outcomes.
He has been the lead transportation engineer for a number of residential and commercial development projects in Auckland and Wellington including high rise apartment developments, and both rural and urban residential subdivisions.
Ryan’s experience undertaking Integrated Transportation Assessments for consent applications under the RMA framework is significant and an important skill set to draw upon.
