The new Government is investing heavily in New Zealand’s transport system to provide people with greater choice, reduce congestion, improve safety and reduce carbon emissions. So it’s rather timely that T+T have recently welcomed James Tinnion-Morgan, Principal Transport Planner for Mass Rapid Transit. James has worked for government and local authority clients in Europe, Asia and the Pacific. He joins an expert team at T+T, who provide the full scope of expertise required to get people from A to B – from investigational analysis into understanding how communities want to travel, to the detail design of the most suitable and sustainable infrastructure options.
According to Labour’s policy statement, New Zealand will see a marked investment into public transport projects, with a major focus on rapid public transit in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, such as light rail and increased bus connections. These investments will lead to a significant requirement for transportation engineering skillsets.
Tonkin + Taylor’s transport planners and engineers have supported the delivery of a number of major transport projects including:
- Northern Gateway Toll Road
- Waterview Connection
- Puhoi to Warkworth
- Newmarket Viaduct
- Kaikōura Earthquake Recovery
- Waitangi Wharf (Chatham Islands)
- Pukeahu War Memorial Park
