Waterview Connection Almost Complete
The massive $1.4 billion Waterview Connection project in Auckland’s west is almost finished. It’s been five years in construction, much longer in the planning and includes the two longest roading tunnels in the country.
The largest roading project in New Zealand’s history will complete the Western Ring Route providing an alternative motorway through Auckland and save the country’s biggest city relying on SH1 and the Harbour Bridge Crossing.
In the lead up to the opening, some of the key staff in the Well Connected Alliance have been reflecting on some of the highlights and challenges over the last five years.
Tonkin + Taylor’s Peter Norfolk was the Design Manager for much of the last five years and talks about the benefit of bringing all the construction and engineering staff who are working on the project under the one umbrella – the Well Connected Alliance.
Our Executive Leader – Engineering, Richard Hancy talks about the importance of legacy projects like the Waterview Connection.
