Rachel is a Contaminated Land Specialist with a Master’s degree in Geology. She has more than eight years’ professional experience in New Zealand and Australia and has been working at Tonkin + Taylor since 2009. Her experience includes a range of contaminated land desk studies and site investigations, construction monitoring and management, and strategic development inputs related to contaminated land development.
Rachel has undertaken a number of contaminated land investigations across New Zealand, working with a range of clients including Government agencies, Regulatory authorities, transport and infrastructure alliances and private developers. Her experience extends from small residential development to large infrastructure projects involving multiple parties and disciplines.
Rachel is considered a suitably qualified and experienced practitioner to the 'investigation manager' level as described in the NES Soil User's Guide.
Her expertise includes:
- Preparation of relevant contamination reports and consent documents in relation to the redevelopment and ongoing management of these sites
- Construction and earthworks monitoring
- Surface water, groundwater and soil investigations, sampling and assessment
- Asbestos in soils assessments and monitoring
- Contaminated land desktop studies and intrusive investigations including assessment and management of contaminated sites
